FAQ about Therapy
How do I know if therapy is right for me? If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or finding it hard to cope with daily life, therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit - many people find therapy useful for personal growth, managing stress, or working through life transitions. If you're unsure, we can discuss this in an initial consultation.
What's the difference between CBT, Schema -informed Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy? CBT focuses on changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours in the present. Schema -informed Therapy looks at deeper, long-standing patterns that often stem from early experiences. Compassion Focused Therapy helps develop self-compassion and manage shame or self-criticism. I'll work with you to determine which approach, or combination of approaches, will be most helpful for your specific needs.
How long does therapy take? This varies depending on your goals and what you're working on. Some people benefit from short-term work (6-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term therapy. We'll discuss this regularly and adjust as needed. You're always in control of how long you continue.
How is therapy conducted? I offer secure online sessions via Zoom. Online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions and offers greater flexibility for busy schedules.
Is everything we discuss confidential? Yes, everything we discuss is strictly confidential. I only break confidentiality in very rare circumstances where there's serious risk of harm to yourself or others, and I would discuss this with you first wherever possible.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule? I require 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling (working days only). Cancellations with less notice may be subject to the full session fee. This policy helps me offer consistent availability to all my clients.
How much do sessions cost? £90 per session. Payment is made via bank transfer prior to sessions or appointment cannot be guaranteed. I also provide services for those on private healthcare schemes including AXA, Aviva, Bupa, Vitality, WPA.
