Psychotherapy in Reading, Berkshire
Looking for a psychotherapist in Reading? You're in the right place.
I'm Munni, a BABCP-accredited psychotherapist offering therapy to clients in Reading, across Berkshire, and online throughout the UK. I've been working with people for over 30 years, first in Social Work and now as a Psychotherapist, and my approach is warm, practical, and tailored to who you are and what you're going through.
Whether you're dealing with workplace stress, working through trauma, navigating menopause, or trying to make sense of long-standing patterns that keep showing up in your life, therapy can help. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be authentically yourself, at your own pace.
Therapy in Reading and Across Berkshire
I'm based in Reading and work with clients across Berkshire, including those in Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Henley, and the surrounding areas. Sessions are available either online via a secure video platform, or in-person locally.
Online sessions tend to suit busy professionals, parents juggling family life, or anyone who prefers the comfort and privacy of their own space. In-person sessions can be helpful if you'd rather have a clear physical space that's separate from home or work.
If you're not sure which would suit you better, that's something we can talk through on an initial call.
How I Can Help
I work with a wide range of clients and concerns, with particular experience in the following areas:
Workplace stress and burnout
If you're a senior professional struggling with burnout, imposter syndrome, work anxiety, or a poor work-life balance, I can help. Many of my clients are high-achievers who look successful from the outside, but feel constantly under pressure, stretched thin, or like a failure no matter how much they achieve.
Trauma and women's experiences
I specialise in supporting women through difficult experiences including sexual trauma, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, and the wider challenges of motherhood and menopause. Therapy is paced carefully and grounded in evidence-based approaches like trauma-focused CBT and imagery rescripting.
Culturally sensitive therapy
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and have particular experience working with people from BAME communities. If you're navigating racism, cultural conflict at home, family expectations, or hidden parts of your identity, therapy with a culturally sensitive practitioner can make a real difference.
LGBTQ+ affirming therapy
I work with members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender clients navigating gender identity, transition, and non-acceptance from family or colleagues. Therapy should feel affirming and inclusive, and that's what I aim to offer.
Neurodivergence
I work with adults navigating ADHD and autism, including the workplace, relationship, and emotional regulation challenges that often come with being neurodivergent.
The Therapies I Offer
I draw on three main evidence-based approaches, often combined depending on what will help you most:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, structured approach that helps you identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and develop coping strategies you can use day-to-day.
Schema-Informed Therapy is a deeper approach that looks at long-standing patterns and beliefs, particularly helpful if CBT alone hasn't quite got to the root of things.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) helps you build a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself, which can be especially helpful if you have a harsh inner critic or carry a lot of shame.
We'll work out together which combination is right for you.
What to Expect
The first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what's brought you to therapy. There's no pressure to have everything figured out, and you don't need to be in crisis to start. Some people come because they want to feel better, others because they want to understand themselves more deeply.
From there, we'll agree on a way of working that feels right for you, and review it regularly as we go. Sessions are usually weekly to start with, lasting 50 minutes.
